Scicli
Scicli The Essential
Scicli, city of the Siculi, is hidden away in the hinterland, almost entirely out of sight. Destroyed like much of the Val di Noto by the1693 earthquake, it was reconstructed and has been a Unesco world heritage site since 2002. Novelist Elio Vittorini used to say that it was more beautiful than Ragusa, Enna or Caltagirone, going so far as to claim that it was even the most beautiful city in the world! Lovely point of view from San Matteo hill.
