Mozia The Essential
Interesting
The tiny island of Mozia in the midst of the Stagnone lagoon was once the fiefdom of the prosperous Phoenician colony of Motya. Its strategic location made it a much sought-after outpost by both the Carthaginians and the Syracusans, who destroyed it. It then fell into neglect until it was rediscovered in the late 19C. Today the island welcomes tourists in a whirlwind of colour and scents that comes from the lush Mediterranean vegetation that thrives on the island.
