Galleria d'Arte Moderna

Interesting
The gallery presents primarily Tuscan works, illustrating the various trends in Italian painting and sculpture from the late 18C to the first decades of the 20C. Among the gallery's most notable possessions are an exceptional series of works by the Macchiaioli, a movement contemporary to Impressionism: note especially the tiny Rotonda di Palmieri and the Staffato (Fallen Rider) by Giovanni Fattori, and the Portoferraio Prison by Telemaco Signorini.
