Riga Museum of History and Navigation

Recommended
Housed in the old cathedral chapterhouse, which has undergone significant remodelling over the years, most significantly in 1779, when architect Christoph Haberland designed the Column Hall, this museum retraces the history of the capital and its port in chronological fashion, from indigenous civilisations right up to daily life in the 19C and 20C while taking in the medieval city and Swedish Riga on the way. In the two rooms devoted to navigation you can admire some superb models of ships.
