Kedainiai The Essential
Kėdainiai, capital of the cucumber, is one of the rare medium-sized cities in Lithuania worth a visit. To explore it, follow the pedestrianised Didzioji Street, lined with smooth and harmonious façades. It leads to the Kėdainiai Regional Museum, housed in the Carmelite monastery; the wooden Church of St Joseph and its interesting altar, before ending up at the Rinka (Market) Square. There stands the Renaissance-style town hall and a series of merchant houses with straight and colourful gables.
