Republic of Uzupis

Recommended
Just another district in the capital? No; here visitors set foot in an independent republic, declared on 1 April 2000! The utopia turned into reality that is Uzupis is a haven for artist, artisans and like-minded people. It's worth coming here for its ambience, little craft workshops (a tradition since the 15C), the church of St Bartholomew, and the multi-coloured houses on Uzupio Street... But hurry; this side of the River Vilnia is becoming fashionable and attracting developers' attention.
