Veluws Museum

This museum occupies an 18C residence. It is devoted to the history of the Veluwe nature reserve and of the famous Harderwijk University, attended notably by the 18C Swedish botanist Carl von Linné (also known as Linnaeus), the surgeon Hermann Boerhaave and the astronomer Christian Hygens, who gained doctorates at Harderwijk. The museum also has coins from the Monnaie de Gueldre (installed at Harderwijk from 1584 to 1806), costumes worn in the Veluwe area and models of boats from the old Zuiderzee.
