Singel

Recommended
A defensive moat in bygone days, the Singel ("belt") is the former outer limit of medieval Amsterdam. Initially used for the transport of goods, this canal gradually took on a residential aspect. Like the neighbouring canals, it is lined with a fine collection of warehouses, churches and houses.
