Former hospices

Among the institutions available to the inhabitants of the rich city Haarlem as early as the 15 C were the Provenierschofje (1592), whose large porch opens onto the Grote Houtstraat, the Brouwershofje (1472) in the Tuchthuisstraat, and the Hofje van Loo, dating back to 1489, which can be seen from the Barrevoetestraat.
