Deventer Weigh House

Interesting
This large, leaning edifice, was built in 1528 in the late-Gothic style. It has four turrets and a wooden pinnacle turret; the high perron on arcades was added in 1643. On the north side façade, note the enormous hanging cauldron: a counterfeiter is said to have been boiled alive in it long ago! Today, the building houses the Historisch Museum: note the Four Evangelists by Hendrick ter Brugghen, as well as the vestiges of a 17C majolica stove.
