The Hague, although robbed of the title of capital of the Netherlands by Amsterdam at the beginning of the 19th Century, is capital of the Zuid-Holland province, and the seat of government and of the Dutch parliament. A diplomatic centre, this is Holland's most elegant and sophisticated city, and also home to the International Court of Justice.
