Hanseatic Museum

Recommended
This museum in one of the oldest timber buildings alongside the quays illustrates the harsh existence of a League merchant and his entourage. On the lower floors were the warehouse, workshops and the office, where the accounting books, ship's log and transaction registers were kept. The top floor was a dormitory for employees, often young single men who had come from abroad to learn a trade or a craft. Because of the fire hazard, heating and lighting were forbidden.
