Peniche

Peniche
The Essential
Peniche is the Portugal's second fishing port (rock lobsters, tuna, sardines) as well as a ship-building and fish canning centre. Rampart ruins and a severe citadel recall the former military role of the town. A public garden which is great for a stroll, planted with palm trees, surrounds the tourism office. The city has tried hard, since the 19C, to resurrect its former speciality: bobbin-lace.
