Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral

Inspired by Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, this imposing brick building was constructed between 1902 and 1906 by Hungarian architects Virgil Nagy and Iosif Kamner. The cathedral is worth visiting in order to see the paintings decorating its dome, executed by Sibiu-born artist Octavian Smigelschi (1866-1912).
