Taganka

In the somewhat far-flung slightly countrified district of Taganka, you can follow in the footsteps of several emblematic figures, including Andrei Rublev, the most famous of icon painters (don't miss the museum named after him) and singer Vladimir Vysotsky, whose popularity has never waned since his death in 1980. The Andronikov Monastery founded in the 13C is another must.
