Bubión The Essential
Nestling at an altitude of 1 296m, this village of the Alpujarras region lies in a spectacular gorge, the Barranco de Poqueira. Its fine Moorish tower, very close to the church, was an important bastion of Morisco resistance during the revolt in 1568-69, led by Fernando de Válor. The whitewashed houses and terrace roofs give Bubión a North African feel.
