The Essential
The village is one of the oldest in the Sierra de Aracena nature reserve. The huge 13C church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, the Hieronymite convent, the castle with its bullring, and its narrow winding streets lined by seigniorial mansions are all well worth a visit. Also worthy of note are Aroche's fine leather workshops specialising in saddlery, and the group of dolmens known as the Piedras del Diablo ("Devil's Stones"), 3km southwest of the village.
