Paradas The Essential
This village 8km southwest of Marchena was on the caravan route to Seville during the Middle Ages, hence its name (parade), meaning (a "place to stop"). Unfortunately, nothing remains to remind visitors of its fascinating past. It does, however, have a church that is worth visiting, and a museum displaying interesting collections of religious gold and silverware, miniature books and a splendid Mary Magdalene by El Greco.
