Betancuria The Essential
Interesting
A peaceful town lying in a small valley, founded in 1404 by Bethencourt. He chose this site tucked away in the mountains as his capital, which blossoms today among flowers and flourishing palm trees. From the early days of the Conquista, Betancuria has, in addition to a certain colonial style, an old cathedral, nowadays called Santa María de la Antigua church. There is also a small archaeology museum.
