Monte de Las Mercedes
The mountainous Anaga headland is high enough to trap clouds from the north, making for a humid climate in which the Las Mercedes forest can flourish: tree laurel, giant heather and fayas, plants that are typically found in the Canaries. The roads which wend their way along the ridges of the Anaga mountains command some superb views, such as those from the Mirador de Cruz del Carmen, the Pico del Inglés and after the Bailadero Pass.
Access by Las Mercedes, 12km from Bajamar. Better lighting conditions in undergrowth in the middle of the day. Many hiking trails.
