Roque de Los Muchachos

Highly recommended
The road winding north of La Palma is lined with laurel bushes and pine trees and climbs up to one of the world's most important astrophysical observatories (2 423m). Here you are just a few metres from the summit and an impressive vista of the whole island. Facing south from the Roque de Los Muchachos you can see the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente, the town of Los Llanos de Aridane, the mountains of La Palma as well as the island of El Hierro, while to the east you can make out Mt Teide and the island of La Gomera.
