Monasterio de Santa María de Huerta

This 13C Cistercian monastery, modified during the Renaissance, is a handsome complex of cloisters and outbuildings. Highlights include the Claustro Herreriano and the Claustro de los Caballeros, named after the knights buried here. The ground floor dates from the 13C, the upstairs is 16C Plateresque. Don't miss the refectorio, a 35m-long Gothic masterpiece with 15m-high vaulting. The Talavera azulejos on the floor, and the beautiful Renaissance stalls in the choir are also worthy of note.
