Tordesillas The Essential
Huddled on a steep bank of the Duero, this town gave its name to the famous Treaty of Tordesillas (1494) which divided the New World between Spain and Portugal. The line ran between the Poles, passing 370 leagues from Cape Verde, and cutting South America in two.
