Poble Sec District

This former industrial district, now a residential zone, lies at the foot of Monjuïc, between Plaça d'Espanya and the sea. The district is bounded by the wide Parallel Avenue, so-called because it runs exactly along the 41° 44' parallel north. At the beginning of the 20C, the avenue was lined in theatres, cabarets and frivolous shows and known as the Montmartre of Barcelona.
