Sitges The Essential
Recommended
Known as Súbur during Roman times, Sitges lies to the south of Barcelona, on the coast of the Parque Natural del Garraf, and is one of Catalonia's busiest tourist resorts, thanks mainly to the vast Sant Sebastià and La Ribera beaches. Luxury villas stand next to Modernist houses, reflecting an easy mix which is also a characteristic of the town's open and friendly inhabitants - not least during the carnival (late February), one of the most famous in Catalonia. Not to be missed!
