Bossòst The Essential
This small town north of Vielha at the foot of the Portillón pass, linking the Arán valley with Bagnères-de-Luchon, is a must for visitors interested in Romanesque architecture. The Iglesia de la Purificació de María is probably the finest example of Romanesque architecture in the area. Its three naves, separated by sturdy round columns, are crowned by barrel vaulting. The fine north doorway features relief work in its tympanum, depicting the Creator surrounded by the sun and the moon.
