Main Street (Calle Mayor)

Running from the Puerta del Sol to the Cathedral of La Almudena, Calle Mayor has ever been Madrid's main street. Pedro Calderon de la Barca lived in the narrow house at N° 61, next to the Queen Mother's former pharmacy. The Italian Institute occupies an old 17C palace at N° 86. Opposite is Uceda Palace, from the same era.
