La Coruña The Essential
Interesting
La Coruña is the driving force of the region's economy. The industrial area and port are concentrated away from the peninsula, and as such do not detract from the charm of the town centre. In the shade of its little pedestrianised streets, Romanesque churches and lively terraces rub shoulders with early-20C Art Nouveau façades; the glass-paned galleries of the 19C have earned the town its nickname "glass city". The Paseo Marítimo, around the peninsula, leads to the magnificent beaches of Riazor Orzán.
