The Essential
Located close to the Portuguese border, Tui lies in a lovely setting, with its old town on the right bank of the Miño, opposite the Portuguese fortress of Valença. Since the Minho international bridge was built by Gustave Eiffel in 1884, Tui has served as an important link between Portugal and Galicia. It is one of the oldest towns in the region, where houses adorned with coats of arms and narrow streets connected by flights of steps lead up to the cathedral, bearing witness to its illustrious past.
