Oviedo The Essential
Recommended
Built on a hill, in the heart of a verdant basin, Oviedo, is the capital of the principality of the Asturias region. It stands in a major industrial and mining area. Contrasting with the modern city, the old town around the cathedral has lots of charm. The historical quarter is made up of pretty little squares, pedestrian streets decorated with sculptures and fine buildings of Asturian art that have been declared a UNESCO heritage site. A great place to explore on foot.
