Church of St-Julian-of-the-Fields

Interesting
The church of San Julián de los Prados is a fine example of Asturian art (triple-arcaded window, lattice work...). It was erected by Asfonso II el Casto during the first half of the 9C, according to a typical plan: a porch, three naves, a huge cross nave and three barrel-vaulted chapels radiating from the East end. The interior boasts walls covered with frescoes decorated with geometric motifs based on the Roman style; the only Christian symbol used is the Cross. Also noteworthy is a fine 13C Christ in Majesty in the central apse.
