Bocairent, a small town full of charm, where the painter Juan de Juanes (1523-79) died, boasts a rich architectural and cultural heritage. Around the Plaza Ayuntamiento, tall houses cling to the hillside. You reach the church, Iglesia de la Asunción, which houses an interesting museum, via a steep narrow street. Several works by Juanes (nicknamed the Spanish Raphael) and his school, a 14C Last Supper by Marcial de Sax, as well as a collection of silverwork, are on display here.
