Sagunto The Essential
Interesting
Sagonte stands at the foot of a hill crowned by the ruins of a citadel. In 218 BC, the siege of Sagonte by Hannibal marked the beginning of the Second Punic War. El Port de Sagunt, 5km to the east, a commercial port born out of ironworks but also a family-friendly seaside resort in full expansion. Urbanism without great charm, but pleasant Paseo Marítimo skirting the lovely beach.
