Lago di Lugano

Recommended
More unspoiled than its neighbours, Lakes Maggiore and Como, this Lombard lake enjoys a mild climate and wild mountainous countryside. Only a small portion of Lake Lugano, sometimes called Ceresio, is in Italy, the rest is Swiss. Visit Campione d'Italia, home to a chapel from 1326. Continue on towards Lanzo d'Intelvi (907m). 6km from the resort is the belvedere dei Sighignola, also known as the "balcony of Italy", because of its sweeping view.
