Burgdorf The Essential
Burgdorf is a busy little town on the edge of the Emmental region, which lies within the Emme Valley and is renowned for its pastureland and cheese industry. The modern town, which is a major textile centre, lies beneath the old town, which is crowned by a huge 12C brick castle. The castle has undergone restoration work several times and its tower now houses a museum displaying furniture, costumes, musical instruments and earthenware.
