Hereford The Essential
Interesting
By 676 AD, Hereford was already the seat of a bishopric and a flourishing town that became the capital of Saxon Mercia, with its own mint. Today, the city is the prosperous centre of a rich farming area. Among its many surviving timber-framed houses, the oustanding Old House (dating from 1621) is a fine example of Jacobean domestic architecture.
