Hereford Cathedral

Recommended
The cathedral (12C-14C) was largely financed by donations from pilgrims who came to see the tomb of St Thomas Cantilupe (canonised in 1320). His tomb, without the effigy, stands in the left arm of the transept, where you can admire Stanbury Chapel, which is representative of the Perpendicular Gothic style. The chained library (the books are on shelves with their spines facing inward and are attached to the shelves by a metal chain) contains 1 400 books and more than 200 manuscripts.
