Folkestone
Folkestone The Essential
Folkestone has long been the second Channel ferry port after Dover. When the town was a resort in the mid-19C, the clifftop to the west was laid out as a grassy promenade called The Leas, from where there is a superb panorama over the sea (as far as the French coast on a fine day). At the foot of the North Downs on the northern outskirts of the town lies the opening to the Channel Tunnel and Eurotunnel terminal complex.
