Abingdon The Essential
Interesting
The town developed around an abbey founded in the 7C, the sole vestiges of which are the 13C Chequer with its tall chimney, long gallery (about 1500) with its oak-beamed ceiling, and 15C gateway beside the medieval Church of St Nicholas.
