Salisbury The Essential
Recommended
Mention cannot be made of Salisbury without reference to its cathedral, perhaps the most sublime in England. Equally charming is the medieval town itself, which retains its small-scale character and merits exploration, before venturing further afield into a surrounding landscape which is verdant, undulating and dotted with villages of cottages in flower-decked gardens. Also in the vicinity is the prehistoric site of Stonehenge, without question Britain's most renowned ancient monument.
