National Railway Museum

Highly recommended
Adjoining the National Museum of Science and Industry, this museum is a fascinating journey through the history of the railway in Great Britain since its invention. The Great Hall houses numerous locomotives, including legendary models (such as Stirling 4-2-2 from 1870 and the Lode Star from 1907), and the South Yard recreates the atmosphere of a main train station of the 1950s. The museum explores issues relating to the history and technology of trains.
