High Street

Interesting
The South side houses a continuous line of various façades, only interrupted by a few alleyways. The town cross with a drawing of the Haddington Goat is a replica from the 19C. In the same style, Lodge Street contains contrasting architectural styles. The covered passage leads to the childhood home of Jane Welsh, wife of Thomas Carlyle. It contains a little museum housing a few souvenirs of the Carlyles.
