Dunrobin Castle

Dunrobin Castle, the ancestral seat of the earls and dukes of Sutherland, stands on an impressive terrace overlooking the sea. Additions in the 19 and 20C surround the original tower (1400). The interior is enhanced by a fine collection of paintings (Canaletto, etc.) and includes family portraits by Reynolds and Lawrence. From the terrace is a view of the formal gardens.
