Coldstream The Essential
The name of this small border town, lying on the Morpeth to Edinburgh road, immediately evokes the famous Coldstream Guards regiment, known as the Lilywhites. Coldstream grew by a ford on the River Tweed, at the confluence with the River Leet. The narrow and winding main street is often packed with cars. Down nearer the river, the old town centre - Market Square, Duke Street and Leet Street - offers quieter surroundings.
