Gray's Printing Press

A 19C printery with foot and hand presses has been preserved behind the Georgian front of this shop. Two apprentices from the region made a name for themselves in the US: John Dunlap (1747-1812), who learned his trade at Gray's, printed the US Declaration of Independence in his paper, the Pennsylvania Packet; James Wilson became publisher of a Philadelphia newspaper.
