Sault Sainte Marie The Essential

Connected to Michigan's city of the same name by International Bridge, Sault Ste. Marie is an industrial centre renowned for its steelworks and paper mills. The Canadian "Soo," as it is commonly called, lies on the north banks of St. Mary's River, the international boundary and waterway that connects Lakes Superior and Huron. A peaceful city, despite the busy traffic up and down the locks, it is on the doorstep to the unspoiled lake and forest region of Algoma, an area that provided inspiration to the Group of Seven.
