Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun

Recommended
To reach the shrine, motorists drive up a 1.5mi winding road to a plateau 2,000ft above Colorado Springs. The 100ft granite tower was built as a Penrose family tomb, but was rededicated to philosopher-humorist Rogers when he died in a 1935 plane crash. Tower landings are photo galleries of Rogers' life: a 94-step climb reveals a view east.
