Gainesville
Gainesville The Essential
A friendly college-town atmosphere pervades Gainesvillle, home to the University of Florida. The historic residential area, Courthouse Square, and quiet residential streets lined with loblolly pines and live oaks occupy the east side of town. Some 700 buildings are preserved in Gainesville's five historid districts; notable among them is Thomas Center (1910), an elegant Mediterranean Revival-stye house that now functions as a cultural center.
