This ornate white mansion (1859) on the Mississippi now operates as a bed-and-breakfast inn. Designed by Henry Howard for Virginia sugarcane planter John Hampden Randolph and his family, the 53,000sq ft house boasts 64 rooms sporting elegant appointments. The Grand White Ballroom features plaster frieze-work, Corinthian columns and curved window panes and shutters. From the upstairs gallery, a lovely view extends over the levee to the rolling Mississippi.
