Baltimore The Essential
Recommended
Maryland's largest city, Baltimore emerged in the late 20C as a thriving metropolis where gleaming skyscrapers designed by some of the nation's most noteworthy architects spike the skyline. A wide brick sidewalk along the Patapsco River shoreline links several neighborhoods, including Little Italy, Fells Point and Federal Hill, boasting grand views of the revitalized inner harbor. The city held off an attempt at capture by the British during a major battle of the War of 1812.
